The act of accurately assessing what a piece of furniture needs is the
single most important step.

There
are many qualified crafts people out there to do the work, but the
vital question of what kind of work should be done is often
ignored. |

However,
if it's a dirty 1900's rolltop that has seen better days, of course
I will refinish it! |
If
a client wants a Philadelphia highboy or tall case N.H. clock stripped
and refinished, I'll begin a lesson on the many reasons why
that just shouldn’t be done!
It
is a responsibility to own such pieces and decisions can’t
be made carelessly. We would need to discuss conservation - in other
words, stabilizing and preserving the piece as it is today.

I
provide everything to do with the wood: re-gluing, major and/or minor
wood replacement and/or rebuilding, spindles, rockers, side rails, finials,
carvings, veneer, moldings, etc.
Complete
refinishing or cleaning and over finishing, perfect color blending and
replacement are all options to be considered.
I
am happy to estimate jobs either on location or by images through email. |
